Winter Canyon Excursion - Cava Grande del Cassibile

Wednesdays and Thursdays, through March 3^rd, 2011.

Depart Malta at 7 am, return to Malta at 9 pm.

This excursion is very interesting from an archaeological point of view, and lovers of unspoiled nature will enjoy the magnificent panoramic views as an extra bonus. The 520 meter high canyon that we visit is the deepest and most spectacular of the Iblea range. You will be inspired by the numerous splendid lakes and breathtaking, emerald colored waterfalls surrounded by white rocks, sculpted by the flowing water. The wildlife, both exotic and familiar, will enchant you.

Itinerary

Arrival at the starting point of the excursion, Cava Grande del Cassible. We will start the descent along the ancient steps until we reach the chosen route. The walk along this flat path gives us amazing views of the valley with its cascading waters and ponds.
The path leads to the Byzantine village (with an optional visit). We then follow a trail along the river until we come across a series of wonderful bathing ponds of crystal clear waters, where one can stop for a swim in the midst of spectacular sights of unspoiled nature.
We take the main path back up to the departure point.
Minibuses will be will be waiting to take us to lunch at an agriturismo.
Arrival at Noto, visit of the city, tasting of typical products of the area and time free for shopping
